The Wren in the Wood

This story has taken shape over the last year and has taken on many forms as it has evolved. It has come from a desire to tell a story about growing up and attempting to find yourself outside of other’s expectations. As Wren deals with her past, I’ve struggled to break away from who I thought I would be. I’ve felt a certain calling to remain true to what people expect from me and make myself smaller to appease those around me. But as Wren discovers, we can’t live the lives of our parents or anyone else besides ourselves. We all have a right to claim ownership of our stories and let them become bigger and brighter than we ever thought possible.

Listen to The Wren in the Wood Soundtrack
Composed by Julian Nowik, The Wren in the Wood soundtrack is deeply personal. It’s a snapshot of a challenging and emotional time in both mine and Julian’s lives. The score was written and performed in LA on a dulcimer found at a local flea market; it’s a mixture of folk and electronic, and it beautifully captures Wren’s emotional and physical journey throughout the film. I am forever honored for the level of heart and love put into this music, and I am very excited to be able to share it with the world. To hear more about the project from Julian, click here.
